This vibrant venue masterfully blends inventive plant-based cuisine with the lively charm of a wine bar and store, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for both casual gatherings and special occasions.
Sylvan’s menu is a celebration of bold flavors and artful presentation. Dishes like the Polenta with Mushrooms and the smoky, creamy Smoked Tomatoes with Yoghurt and Chilli Butter showcase a remarkable depth of taste, combining textures that dance on the palate. The Padron Peppers and Chilli Cashews ignite a subtle heat balanced with crunchy, nutty comfort, while the Steamed Aubergine gently melts with umami richness that will have you savoring each bite. For a hint of sweetness, the Rice Pudding Made with Coconut Milk Served with Blueberries Cooked in Red Wine offers a luxuriously creamy finish, perfectly rounding off the experience.
The atmosphere at Sylvan buzzes with a warm and animated energy, enhanced by its stylish decor and attentive, friendly staff who make every visit feel personal and welcoming. Regular guests rave about the lively buzz on weekend nights, with the restaurant striking an ideal balance of relaxed conviviality and sophisticated dining.
What truly sets Sylvan apart is its thoughtfully curated beverage selection. The extensive wine list is designed to complement the vibrant flavors of the dishes, featuring everything from delicate, fruit-forward Pinot Noir to rich, structured reds. For beer aficionados, the bar offers a stellar variety including locally adored brews like Augustiner Helles and Joker IPA by Williams Bros. The spritz cocktails—such as the refreshing Cocchi Americano with Green Tea and Peach—add a creative twist to typical wine bar offerings, delivering a remarkable fusion of botanical and fruity notes. Don't miss the Boatyard Negroni or a perfectly crafted Espresso Martini to round out your meal.
But don't just take our word for it. Patrons like iain McLean touched on the "fantastic decor" and "excellent food," highlighting dishes like the braised peas, roasted tomatoes, and goat's cheese paired with a carefully chosen bottle of wine. Aisling Smith applauds the "crazy tasty vegetarian food" and mentions memorable highlights such as the chicory salad with hazelnuts and orange dressing, as well as the smoked tomatoes and yoghurt. Many guests recommend coming in a group to share and sample the diversity of flavors; as C W suggests, the smoked tomatoes, marinated aubergine, and little gem with goat's cheese are "particularly delicious." This sentiment echoes throughout reviews, emphasizing Sylvan's skill at making plant-based dining unforgettable.
Sylvan is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of vegetarian and vegan culinary artistry wrapped in the conviviality of a wine bar. Whether you're an avid vegan, a curious foodie, or someone looking to enjoy a vibrant night filled with exceptional food and wine, Sylvan promises a rich sensory adventure that leaves a lasting impression on every visit.

Fantastic decor, lovely staff but the star of the show was the excellent food. Had the braised peas, roasted tomatoes and goats cheese. All tremendous paired with a lovely bottle of wine. The bread too just topped an absolutely fantastic evening. Thanks Sylvan and sorry my picture doesn’t do the food justice!!
Gorgeous restaurant and lovely, busy atmosphere on a Friday night. Crazy tasty vegetarian food prepared well - we ordered a lot but the stand outs were the chicory salad with hazelnuts and orange dressing, and also the smoked tomatoes and yoghurt. Great wine selection. Came with my boyfriend, will definitely be back soon. Thank you Charlie for looking after us. :)
Incredible food and drinks! Would recommended going as a group so you can try as many dishes as possible. We had most dishes on the menu - the smoked tomatoes with yogurt, marinated aubergine, and little gem with goats cheese were particularly delicious. Service and atmosphere were great too. Definitely one to visit if you’re in Glasgow!
This is one of the most gorgeous, atmospheric restaurants in Glasgow. The service was super friendly, and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend - the smoked tomatoes in yogurt are one of the nicest dishes I’ve ever eaten in my life. Great to see fully vegetarian food cooked and presented in this way - you immediately forget you’re even in a vegetarian restaurant. Huge wine list too - loved the orange wine.
A perfect time at the Sylvan restaurant for my birthday Good beers and wine ! The food is excellent and generous. The place is very nice too !
Although I asked to know what the menu would be in advance as I was going to have very limited time to have lunch during a dance workshop (and I have a vegan gluten-free diet), I was told by Colin via email that he couldn’t tell me what they would be making… I went to sylvan today only to discover that they had the one dish that I really had wanted which was polenta and mushroom (both vegan and gluten-free!). It was absolutely delicious! I took the coconut rice pudding with cherries and red wine to take out and that was also incredible. The staff were really responsive when I told them I only had a short time to eat because I then needed to return to my workshop. I was able to enjoy my meal and leave within 40 minutes. Absolutely perfect! Very happy and would highly recommend. (5 stars to the team working in the restaurant, minus star for Colin communication).
We came for a special meal and we couldn’t have picked a better place. We had a fixed menu and the food was superb, portions were excellent and a perfect range. The atmosphere was great and the staff were so lovely, we will definitely be back next time we’re in Glasgow. So happy we came, thank you!!
It's one of the best culinary experiences I've had in recent times and certainly the best *new* place I've visited. Everything from service, to food, to drinks options, to atmosphere, to prices was great. We arrived early at the off-chance we may me seated prior to our reservation (we'd had a long day and were tired of walking around for hours), they were able to accommodate for which we are grateful. The food was absolutely fantastic - there's a reason people keep mentioning the smoked tomatoes in yoghurt, but also the polenta with mushrooms (even our designated non-mushroom-eating person in the group enjoyed them), the chickpeas... The food is clearly freshly made and with raw ingredients (no UPF, no store-bought sauces). They had a very good selection of wines by the glass, we got a Gruner and a Riesling, both were properly chilled and served (kudos on the glasses). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, at the end we paid about 117 (including the tip) for a party of 4 hungry people, 2 glasses of wine and 2 non-alc drinks. I would travel to Glasgow just to eat there again.
